Origin 

The Guji beans are sourced from a third generation family-owned business with a long history in the Guji and Sidama zones now known as the Hambela Coffee Estate. The METAD Agricultural Development PLC is managed by Aman Adinew, with a focus on supporting the local community through employment opportunities, healthcare, and sponsoring a modern elementary school. They also support local farmers with technical assistance and sharing modern equipment with their community. Their dedication to the craft of cultivation led to the creation of the first private SCAA-certified coffee quality control lab in Africa. This state-of-the-art facility focuses on training both domestic and international coffee professionals and reflects the modernization movement in Ethiopia showcasing their world-class cultivation. The indigenous heirloom cultivars thrive in the clay mineral soil of the region. They are grown organically and processed full natural and dried on raised beds. A premium example of the coffee Ethiopia has to offer. 

Typically we reserve our Ethiopia offerings for a light roast, but we've really been enjoying the impact a darker roast has on this bean. The Guji region is known for growing coffee with vibrant fruit and herbaceous notes. At this roast level the notes of fresh fruit have developed into more of a cherry cordial, while the herbaceous notes have developed into something more reminiscent of a Cabernet wine. All with a backdrop of semi-sweet chocolate. Keep an eye out and you may find it on our light-roast menu in the future!
