Origin

If you're looking for a bold dark roast blend without the bitterness of an overly roasted bean, we pushed this blend to its delicious limit. The primary component is a washed red bourbon variety from the Concepcion Buena Vista farm in Guatemala. This high elevation farm is located at 1,800 MASL surrounded by mountains and forests. Brothers David and Eddy Solano are 4th generation coffee producers working on their family farm that supports the wider local community. They both bring their engineering background and their passion for experimentation to optimizing their coffee production and introducing modern techniques to their traditional practices.

Some of the Red Bourbon trees on their farm are older than 125 years old and still produce amazing coffee. The dense natural tree shade and low erosion both contribute to the quality of the beans. After depulping the beans are fermented for 48 hours before going to the drying patios for 7-10 days. It's a premium example of what Guatemala has to offer.

The blend is accented with our dark roast natural Ethiopia from the Halo Beriti & Chelbessa districts. These high elevation beans are grown in the regions' rainforests and sorted for quality to ensure the highest degree of maturation for the coffee cherry and seed. They spend 18 days drying on raised beds to impart the fruit flavors to the coffee before further processing. These lots primarily feature the Kurume and Dega varietals which flourish in the region. The additional fruit flavors of the natural process add complexity to the primary Guatemala component. If you enjoy a traditional French Roast, this blend will impress with its balanced bold flavors.
