This exciting natural Honduras coffee comes from the Café Orgánico Marcala Sociedad Anónima (COMSA) collective. Centered in Marcala in the Montecillos region, they represent 1,200 farmers working together in their rural community in central Honduras. Since their humble beginnings in 2001 with 69 members, they have grown into a thought leader for Central American cooperatives and organic coffee production. COMSA’ s multiple projects teach organic farming practices, produce affordable organic inputs, and positively impact their communities through direct social projects.
The beans are grown using organic farming practices and natural processing methods. The farms in this lot are strictly high grown (SHG) over a minimum altitude of 1200 meters above sea level. The higher altitude results in coffee fruit that matures more slowly, creating a denser bean. They used a European preparation (EP) sorting method to remove defects by hand, producing a cleaner, higher-quality product. In recent years, Honduras has made significant gains in both the volume and quality of coffee grown and boasts the largest per capita coffee production in the world. This roast is the perfect introduction to the region if you're beginning to explore what Honduras has to offer.
Bassline roasts every Thursday and ships out every weekday except for Holidays.
