Baroida Estate, located in the Kainantu District of Eastern Highlands Province, was founded in the 1960s by Ben Colbran. Initially purchased from a native man named Taro, the estate played a significant role in early coffee cultivation in the region. Today, Ben's son Nicol manages the plantation, which is surrounded by former colonial coffee estates and mountains with smallholder coffee producers.

The name ‘Baroida’ comes from the Baroida spirit, believed by locals to reside in a large river rock sitting in one of the main rivers flowing through the estate. This particular rock has stubbornly remained in the middle of the river for as long as anybody can remember, refusing to budge through the most severe floods, even when other rocks have been washed away.

In addition to its rich history and picturesque location, the coffee grown here is known for its distinctive tasting notes. Delighting the palate, this coffee has lots of apricot jam, raisins, and almond butter. In addition to a delicious cup, we've had great success serving it as a single-origin espresso too.

Bassline roasts every Thursday and ships out every weekday except for Holidays.
