Imported by Royal Coffee from a collective of smallholder farmers, this decaf is flavorful, chocolatey, and full of satisfying character. Our roast is tailored to create balanced decaf espresso drinks along with a satisfying drip brewed coffee. You get all the aroma and flavor without the caffeine and reduced acidity. These high-elevation beans were grown in volcanic loam and processed full natural to develop the subtle fruit notes and complexity. Our Decaf Esmeralda is decaffeinated using natural sugarcane derived Ethyl Acetate (EA). EA decaf coffees are traditionally sweeter with more body than competing processes. In this method the green beans are steamed or soaked to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. The expanded beans are then soaked in EA, a naturally occurring organic compound found in many fruits and vegetables which can be synthesized for coffee decaffeination. In the presence of EA, caffeine bonds with the compound and is drawn out of the bean. The decaffeinated coffee is then removed from the EA solvent, rinsed thoroughly, re-dried and re-bagged for transport.
Bassline roasts every Thursday and ships out every weekday except for Holidays.
