Imported by La Baia from a collective of smallholder farmers in the Nariño region from the town of La Unión. The high elevation growing region with excellent sun exposure and Pacific Ocean weather patterns is optimal to produce quality coffee. This decaf is flavorful, chocolatey, and full of satisfying character. Our roast is tailored to create balanced decaf espresso drinks along with a satisfying drip brewed coffee. You get all the aroma and flavor without the caffeine and reduced acidity. This tasty regional lot is carefully converted into a top shelf decaf. If you're looking for your next favorite decaf, we think you'll love ours.
Our Decaf Nariño is decaffeinated using the Mexican Mountain Water (MMW) process at Descamex. They source their water for the process from Pico de Orizaba, the highest mountain in Mexico. The beans are initially steamed and prepared for extraction using a water-based saturated solution that removes the caffeine while retaining the coffee's flavor compounds. The beans are then carefully dried before dry mill sorting to remove any defects and excess chaff. This secondary sorting results in a clean, consistent, and inviting decaf.
